(10) Replacement Clip

The clip of the Prosumer Lensbong that I bought from Apexel India was starting to get loose. It wasn’t very tight when I first bought anyway. I was wondering whether it was possible to change to a new clip and where I could get one. I texted Apexel India and they confirmed that the diameter was 17mm.

The clip on my Lensbong was getting loose. The red colour was also horrible -hated that.

Apexel AliExpress

I searched AliExpress and found that Apexel AliExpress had a very impressive-looking clip (diameter also 17mm). But it was a screw-on type and not a clip-on. I decided to buy one and hope that it will fit my Lensbong. There was a reviewer who said it didn’t fit her lens so I was somewhat concerned. And the price was also not that cheap. Anyway, if I don’t try, I won’t know.

I paid S$8.87 for this clip.
It arrived and fitted beautifully, thank goodness. The finishing and quality was excellent. Now with the screw, I can clamp the lens tightly over my phone and it won’t move anymore.
But a screw-on clip had its own problems, damn. Now I can’t just clip-on and clip-off. There are times I need to use the phone without the lens and I need to do that fast. Like in cases where I want to take a photo to show how small the subject it. I’ll have to live with that inconvenience now. No choice. By the way, Apexel AliExpress has a 17mm clip too – the kind you can clip on and off – and cheaper too.
This is how it looks on my phone now.

Cheapo Phone Lens (with clip)

Then I saw this. S$2.41 with shipping – seriously? So I thought I’d just burn this amount. My secret hope was for the clip to be 17mm and then I can use it. And guess what? It is indeed 17mm and it fits!! LOL!
The package came like that. Quite impressive for a S$2.41 price. It has a macro and a wide-angle lens and when combined together becomes a fish-eye lens. Impressive! I’ll do a review in another post.
It fits well. And so I got myself a spare clip.
