Ulanzi CapGrip
This is a great phone holder to use. The Bluetooth shutter button turns the phone into a proper camera like what we know, thus making it easier to snap and to hold. The CapGrip is made of 2 parts – the grip/holder itself and the Bluetooth shutter button which is slotted onto a customized space. The photos below will give you a better idea.
This is a great company to do business with too (no, I don’t get any commission from them!). My Bluetooth shutter button gave up on me after 2 weeks – I’m not sure why. I contacted them and asked them to send me a shutter button replacement – don’t think they’ll do that anyway. And guess what they did? They sent me a brand new set!! I’m their loyal customer henceforth. So I’ve been using this CapGrip for some time now and it makes taking photographs with my S8 so much more convenient, which means lesser blurry photos.
All I do is point and shoot (as in pressing the shutter button). The grip is made of quality material and is comfortable to grip with my right hand. There are 2 problems that I encounter using the CapGrip. One is that the grip is not totally tight and the phone moves just a bit at times. Not a big problem as I just push it back in. The other is that I accidentally swipe my screen while holding the CapGrip. This is rather irritating as I tend have to go back to camera mode. Not really the design fault of the CapGrip either. So I need to be constantly aware not to accidentally touch the screen.
Other Grips
There were other grips that I found on AliExpress. Not sure about other online shopping sites though – I haven’t check. Two that I found were rather expensive and out of my budget. The third one I have not tried so I don’t know if it is good. But the price is about the same as the CapGrip. I think it’s good to know there are choices out there.
